Frequently Asked Questions

Real answers from our actual booking policy — if you don't see your question here, just ask us directly.

Booking

How do I book a trip?

Submit a request through our booking page with your preferred trip type and date. We'll follow up to confirm details and payment - it's a request, not a confirmed booking until full payment is received.

Is a deposit required?

No deposit option — full payment is required to reserve your spot. The booking is confirmed once full payment is received.

Can I book for a group?

Yes. Reale 'Em In includes up to 6 guests ($75 for each additional guest). Shark On includes up to 6 guests. For larger groups, corporate events, or content creation, request a Custom trip.

Can I book a private trip?

Yes - every Catch N Reale trip is private for your group; we don't mix separate bookings together on the same trip.

Will I get a booking confirmation?

Yes — submitting a request sends you an automatic confirmation email, and we follow up directly to finalize details and payment.

How far in advance should I book?

As early as possible, especially during peak season and weekends - spots fill quickly and a booking isn't confirmed until full payment is received.

The Trip

How long does a trip last?

Reale 'Em In is 4 hours (6 PM–10 PM). Shark On is 6 hours (6 PM–midnight).

Do I need fishing experience?

No — Reale 'Em In is designed to be beginner-friendly.

Is it catch and release?

Client safety and wildlife conservation come first. Certain species must be released quickly, and your guide has final say on how the tagging/release process is handled.

Are results guaranteed?

No — like any real outdoor fishing experience, catch success, species encountered, and conditions can't be guaranteed. Trips are recreational experiences, not guaranteed outcomes.

What species will I catch?

Trips primarily target sharks in the 4 to 12 foot range - species can include blacktip, bull, lemon, hammerhead, tiger, and other large coastal sharks depending on season and location - using ethical catch, tag, and release methods, but as with any real outdoor fishing, exact species and catch success can't be guaranteed.

What should I bring?

Arrive about 15 minutes early. Bring comfortable clothing, water and snacks, bug spray, a towel, and a camera or phone - a light jacket helps on cooler night trips. Wear beach-appropriate, non-slip footwear that can handle wet sand. Trip times are estimates and can shift with real conditions.

Is fishing equipment or bait included?

Yes - all fishing equipment, tackle, bait, shark tagging equipment, and safety gear are included in your trip price. Nothing extra to bring or rent.

What are the Florida fishing license requirements?

It depends on your residency, age, and whether you're fishing from shore or a boat - Florida offers a no-cost shoreline license for eligible resident shore anglers, with exemptions for anglers 65+, under 16, active military on leave, and a few other cases. Separately, anyone 16+ shore fishing with a harness, a long wire leader, or non-casting bait deployment (like our kayak/drone setups) needs the free Shore-based Shark Fishing permit - a quick online course, renewed annually. See the official FWC license page for your exact requirement.

Is shark fishing from the beach legal?

Yes - we operate in full compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including all required fishing licenses and permits.

Do you offer night fishing trips?

Yes - nighttime is often the most productive time for land-based shark fishing, and both Reale 'Em In and Shark On start at 6 PM and run into the evening.

How do you get the bait offshore?

Depending on conditions, we use a kayak or drone to deploy bait hundreds of yards offshore - a technique built for land-based shark fishing specifically.

How physically demanding is shark fishing?

Fighting a large shark can be physically demanding, but your guide assists throughout and adjusts based on your comfort and experience level.

Can I bring food and drinks?

Yes - bring a cooler with whatever food and drinks you'd like. Moderate alcohol consumption is permitted, but guest safety comes first - intoxicated guests may be denied participation.

Why do you release the sharks after catching them?

Sharks are apex predators essential to a healthy ocean ecosystem. We practice ethical catch, tag, and release to help protect shark populations, and often contribute to real shark research and tagging efforts.

Children & Groups

Can kids come?

Anyone under 18 is considered a minor and must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or legal guardian unless we've approved otherwise in writing beforehand. We may set minimum ages or decline a minor's participation for safety, operational, or legal reasons at our discretion.

Can non-fishing guests come along?

No - everyone present on a trip is considered a participant, counts toward your group size, and must sign a waiver, whether they're fishing or just watching.

Safety

Who's in charge on the water?

Your guide. Guide decisions are final, including modifying the activity for tides, visibility, surf, or participant condition, and staff can end or refuse participation at any time for safety.

Can I touch a shark?

Not unless your guide specifically instructs you to. Staff maintains final control around all wildlife.

What if I have a medical issue during the trip?

You authorize emergency medical treatment if needed and are responsible for any resulting medical costs — please tell staff immediately if your condition changes before or during the trip.

Accessibility

Do you offer accessibility or mobility accommodations?

Not currently - our trips involve beach terrain, standing, and physical activity, and we don't have an accommodation option in place today. If you have specific questions, contact us before booking and we'll talk it through.

Waivers

Does everyone need to sign a waiver?

Yes — every participant signs before the trip, from a link sent to you, no account needed. It takes about two minutes on a phone.

What about minors?

A minor's waiver requires a parent/guardian name and relationship, in addition to the standard participant information.

Do I have to allow photos/video of me to be used?

No — the waiver includes an explicit yes/no choice for media use, and we honor whichever you choose.

Weather

What happens if the weather is bad?

We may cancel, postpone, relocate, or shorten a trip for weather, unsafe water conditions, or other safety concerns. A weather cancellation doesn't automatically mean a refund — we'll offer a reschedule, credit, partial refund, or full refund at our discretion.

Cancellations & Refunds

What's your cancellation policy?

More than 72 hours before your trip: full refund. 48–72 hours before: 50% refund. Under 48 hours before: no refund.

What if I'm running late?

Arriving more than 60 minutes late may be treated as a no-show, which isn't eligible for a refund. Trips begin and end at their scheduled times.

Payment

What payment methods do you accept?

Zelle, for now — sent directly once your trip details are confirmed. Full payment is required to reserve your booking.

Do you offer gift cards?

Not currently - payments are Zelle-only for now, with no gift-card system in place.

Do you offer any discounts?

We offer a discount for active military - just let us know when you request your trip.

Is gratuity included?

No. Tips are never required, always appreciated if you feel your guide earned it, and any gratuity given is voluntary and non-refundable.

Can I get a payment receipt?

Yes - just ask and we'll send you one after your payment is received.
